Week 2 Writing

Background:

Chile is a country where the social studies are less important than the mathematical, physical or biological studies. Careers like Sociology, Literature, History, Anthropology or any else that are dedicate to research, it is considerate a career no able for a good job. According to a statistical study of the careers with the highest employment rate, the first ten careers belong to scientific area. It is important to know that Chile is a very uncultured and ignorant country, focus in neoliberalism and capitalism, and additionally poor. According to a research four out of ten young people are pursuing undergraduate careers in universities, professional institutes or technical training centers. That's why most of the people does not have university studies and they work a lot. People that prefer study an university career think about "future” first, that means have a stable work with a lot of money and a good social status like Medicine, Laws, Engineering, and many others.

Problem:

Anthropology in particular, in Chile is the opposite, currently there is no future job, there aren’t many opportunities to emerge like a professional­­­­­ and the career is taught in a few universities. Only two of them teach physical anthropology they are University of Concepción and University of Chile and about archeology, also a branch of anthropology, is taught it only by the last one. However anthropology needs to be recognized by the people in general, the most of them don’t know what it’s about and it’s really important for their culture and knowledge.

Solution:

Despite the increasing importance of culture and past, and more in a country like Chile, it is important that high school students can be able to understand about our ascendants, evolution and history in a deep way as long as they can recognize some sides of anthropology and also the career, because actually they even know that exist. Being informed in this country is a good way to deal with the society, that’s why another solution for teenagers or adults it is read about anthropology stuff, it is not have to be a complicate article, it can be any paper related to an anthropological perspective, in the end anthropology is a career dedicated to study the human society and their culture.
